All in a days work

This year I have 50% of our total sixth grade class in band. This has led to larger classes and at times a bit of organized chaos. We are the smallest of all the schools in Frisco which works well since I am not a 'everyone should be in band' person. First off- if you don't want to sign up for me, I don't want you! I work too hard to worry about little butt-headed sixth graders with a sense of entitlement. That being said- the ideal class size for me is about 10-12 for beginners. Last year numbers were down and ALL my beginner taught numbered 28 split into four classes. That was just under half of our total 60 kiddos. This year I have single beginner class with 24 kids in it and teach right at 60 kids myself (not counting the kids my assistant teaches). In all we have 110 kids of 220 total sixth graders.

Why is all this good to know? First- I don't want to be at school. I want to be at home with my girls. Second- some kids are already 'too cool for skool'. I say don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya.

But alas- someone has to keep bringing home the bacon (even though Lesley is working harder than me taking care of our little Em). So tomorrow I hit the ground running again. Go Mustangs!
